About How Good Architects
My name is Liam O’Brien, I am a New Zealand Registered Architect with a decade of experience delivering thoughtful, well resolved architectural design. Over that time I’ve worked across a broad range of projects from high-end bespoke homes and medium density residential, to light commercial, industrial, and education projects. That breadth of experience means I understand not just how buildings should look, but how they need to work in the real world.
I’m based in Hamilton and work with clients throughout New Zealand, particularly those who value clear communication, considered design, and a collaborative approach. How Good Architects is focused on providing quality architectural service without the fuss, prioritising clarity, robust documentation, and a process that keeps you informed and involved at every stage of design, documentation, and construction. My approach is pragmatic and detail-focused, with the aim of making the experience as straightforward and enjoyable as possible.
“How Good” isn’t just a catchphrase I say when I like an idea, it’s the central tenet that underpins everything I do. The ultimate goal of every project is that when it’s all over and you’re admiring the view from the balcony of your new home, or opening the doors to your new commercial premises, you’re left with the same sense of satisfaction and pride that I feel in having delivered it. When the project works, the process has been positive, and the result feels right, you’re left thinking: How good.
