There’s a proven process behind every successful building project. My role is to guide you through it clearly and calmly, and together we’ll shape the level of service that best suits your project.


Initial Consultation

This first step towards a successful project is a clear and unambiguous design brief. I offer a free initial consultation to discuss your project, your architectural tastes, how you use your built environment, and the level of service you need.

Concept Design

The “first cut” design of your new home, renovation, or commercial premises is provided for discussion and refinement. We discuss how the proposal addresses the design brief, responds to the surrounding environment, and complies with the relevant regulatory requirements. Don’t be afraid to change things at this stage, the time is now!

3D Renders / Visualization

Many people find 3D renders and flythroughs extremely helpful with visualizing architectural drawings. Correctly expressing the materiality, scale, and emotion of the architectural design can help to confirm the design intent for your new home, or go towards advertising or securing funding for a commercial project.

Developed Design

Once the concept design is approved, it’s time to get into the technical stuff, a higher level of design resolution is incorporated to ensure the project will be buildable, and affordable. I always suggest seeking a construction cost estimate at this stage. Also, depending on the complexity of your project, this stage is where I begin to involve other design consultants such as structural engineers, landscape designers, or other specialists as required.

Detailed Design & Specification

This stage represents the lion’s share of the documentation required for a construction project. Construction details, specifications, thermal efficiency & rainwater calculations, finalised consultant design, and much more are all coordinated into a documentation package aimed at obtaining the necessary building consent from your local council. 

Procurement

Now things are starting to get real. Depending on the typology, scale, and complexity of your project as well as your own personal requirements, there are a few different ways for us to facilitate competitive pricing from building contractors. I can conduct a tender analysis and make recommendations to empower you to select the best contractor to bring your dream to life.

Construction Observation / Contract Administration

Once a building contractor is locked in and the relevant council consents have been obtained, work on site can begin. I am able to monitor and guide the progress of construction works on site via periodic site meetings, and address any contractor or council queries promptly to minimize cost or timeline overruns. I can also administer the construction contract, which includes the review and certification of payment claims.
